After 23 week being post relaxer, it’s was time to texlax my hair. Every time I tell myself that I’m not going to stretch my hair for more than 16 weeks, but hey here I am. This time around I my normal relax routine had a twist.
To protect my hair, I applied Vaseline on the previous relaxed parts.
With preparing the cream mixture I always add Almond Oil, but this time I used Extra Virgin Olive Oil. – I wanted to see if there would be a difference – . To be exact I added 2 tsp. Olive Oil to the mixture. I liked using Olive Oil, because it has a thicker texture compared to the Almond Oil.
In sections I only applied the mixture to my new growth. To be honest I move fast when it comes to applying the mixture. After applying the mixture I use my finger to smooth out my new growth. – I never use a comb – . This time around I wanted a sleek look, so I went a little bit H.A.M on my edges and nape. Normally I will end with my edges and nape, but because of the sleek look I switched it up.
It took me 20 minutes to apply the mixture and smooth out my new growth. I wanted to do everything in 15 minutes, but that wasn’t enough for me.
Time to rinse out the mixture. Rinse … rinse … rinse!! I stop rinsing my hair when the water is completely clear. Normally after rinsing I would apply ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor, but this time I went straight on with shampooing my hair using ORS Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo.
After shampooing 4 times I finished with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo. This shampoo benefits chemical treated hair. After shampooing it was time for ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor. I let the product sit for 5 minutes and then continued with deep conditioning using ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner. I deep condition for more than 2 hours without heat.
I like the way my hair felt after using ApHogee. With my previous relaxer I felt that my scalp was sensitive. But this time around my scalp felt good.
When my hair is freshly relaxed, I don’t do much to it. I just apply some leave in products and let my hair air-dry.
Although I’m still struggling with retaining my length. I’m happy with the thickness of my hair. Step by step I’m seeing the chances, but I’m not there yet. Transitioning to a texlaxed hair hasn’t been easy.
With my next stretch my focus will be on retaining my length. The goal is to be fully APL (Armpit Length). Let’s see how that will go.
