For the last two weeks I have been wearing my wig as a protective style. I’m trying to leave my hair alone and protect it from the weather. So far I’m holding on. Before I started with the protective style I did a protein treatment, two weeks ago, to strengthen my hair. I planned to wear my wig for another 3 weeks – I hope I can manage, after a while I miss my hair – .
At this moment I’m 18 weeks post relaxer
For a while I wanted to do a pre-poo ‘oil’ treatment with my steamer. I applied vitamin E oil mixed with a little bit of Jojoba oil all over my hair and scalp. Normally I would use Castor or Coconut oil, but I wanted to try something different. I used the Huetiful Hair Steamer for the treatment. After the treatment the front of my hair felt soft, but the back felt a bit stiff – weird -, I need to play with using Vitamin E oil for a pre-poo treatment-.
With every stretch I tell myself that I won’t go further than 18 weeks post, but here I’m again at 24 weeks post relaxer. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with stretching for a long period of time – I have been doing that for the longest – but I wanted to try something different and see how my hair will react.
With every stretch my focus has been with retaining my length. At times I’m still dealing the extreme breakage and split ends. Like sometimes I will talk to my hair and ask “Can I get a break?” and living in the Netherlands doesn’t help either – the weather is pissing me off- but on the positive note, I’m happy with my new growth. I’m transitioning from relaxed hair (bone straight texture) to texlaxed hair (semi straight hair).
For the last past weeks I have been really active with protective styling my hair. It has helped me to keep my hair moisturized. Although I’m pleased with my protective styles I want to step my game up.
To clean my scalp and hair I used Mizani Moisturfusion Milk Bath Shampoo. Like always I shampooed my hair twice. After the wash I used a t-shirt to dry my hair.
It’s been a while that posted anything about my wash day. Because of the protective styling (wearing a wig) I have been skipping my wash days. That was NOT the plan, but how my schedule was, I couldn’t find the right time. So on Wednesday (October 21) I finally washed my hair. My scalp was screaming for it.
On Saturday (October 17) I did a search and destroy method, but before I knew I was trimming my hair. I am at the point that I’m tired of the thin ends. Somebody asked me ‘why don’t you cut your hair? To be honest I’m asking myself the same question’. For some strange reason I don’t want to go back to SL (Shoulder Length Hair). So I’m taking baby steps with trimming my hair.
I shampooed my hair with Mizani Supreme Oil Shampoo. The shampoo is a new member to my Mizani collection. While washing my hair I have noticed that the hair loss (shedding / breakage) has reduced. I hope I can keep it to a minimal. After washing my hair twice, I used a cotton t-shirt to wrap my hair.
Last Monday was an easy wash routine. I kept is simple by only washing and deep condition my hair. I was a bit lazy for a pre poo treatment. Just like last week, using moisture based product was a must.
It’s been a while that I used Mizani Moisturfusion Milk Bath Shampoo. The texture of this shampoo is really like milk. During the wash my hair feels great.
My monthly regimen is a mess. As always I can’t remember when I use a clarifying shampoo for my wash. I knew it was that time again, but I didn’t want to clarify my hair – strange right– I was in battle with myself, because I really wanted to use a moisturized shampoo, but it was time to clarify.
The first step was washing my hair with ORS Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo for a light clarify treatment. Beside this shampoo I really don’t have a ‘legit’ clarifying shampoo – shopping soon 😉 –
I washed my hair once with the product and then followed up with Mizani Botanifying Conditioning Shampoo. I really like the texture of the Mizani Shampoo. During the wash I could easily finger detangle my hair and my hair was so soft.
