It was time to relax my hair. I said the last time I wouldn’t stretch my relaxer more than 16 week, but damn it man I stretched for 25 weeks. There is nothing wrong with stretching your relaxer for so long, but I wanted to minimize it to 16-20 week. The last time I relaxed my hair I was 31 weeks post… yup 31 weeks.
I decided to relax my hair because it wasn’t manageable for me. The struggle was real when I tried to style my hair.
The week before I did a protein treatment to prepare my hair for the relaxer.
It’s time for the creamy crack !!!
I always prep my scalp for the relaxer. I part my hair in small section. Then I apply Vaselineon my scalp only. I grease my scalp because a Lye-relaxer is harsh on the scalp. Yup I said it!! I’m also thinking of switching back to a No-Lye relaxer. I will tell you why in a different blog post. But yeah.. after greasing my scalp I apply the relaxer on my new growth only. When the relaxer is applied I smooth out the new growth with my fingers. I only use my fingers to smooth out the new growth.
One week has gone by and I’m ready for my protective style again. I live in the Netherlands and the weather here SUCKS!!! So to protect my lovey hair I will be rocking my u-part wig with a closure.
I started my routine with a pre-poo oil treatment. I used my oil mix (click on the link, to see what my pre-poo oil mix is). In small section I applied the oil on my scalp and hair. I make sure that I massage my scalp with the oil and concentrate on my ends. After that I used my hooded dryer for about 30 minutes. I love the way my hair feels after this treatment, it’s so shiny and my ends are alive again lool.
As a girl .. I love to shop and this also counts for my hair products.
I was in need for a protein product .. so I decided to buy the Salerm protein shampoo. This was also a product that I wrote down for my wishlist 2013. LOL it took me 10 months to finally buy this shampoo… ow well I got it know and can’t wait to try it out.
I also bought 2 proteinconditioners .. why 2 I really don’t know. I went to the store with Motions CPRconditioner in mind, but when I saw Creme of Nature Nourishing and Strengthening Treatment … I had to buy it (I live in the Netherlands.. and products here are limited. So when I see a product with positive reviews from other ladies.. I go crazy).
Every Saturday is hair time. What I mean by that is washing day. Today it was time to clarify my hair. I used ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo. Today I tried something new. I put an amount of the shampoo in a different container and mix it with a little bit of water. Why?? I don’t prepoo my hair before a clarifying wash… so I mixed my shampoo with water to retaining moisture. After my wash .. I co-washed my hair with TREsemme (iLove Tresemme).
Second step: deep condition .. Today I tried a new product, Motions CPR treatment conditioner. It’s my little sister DC and she loves it. So it thought let me try it and see if it will work for me.
Ideal for helping to strengthen and repair breakage-prone hair.
strengthens and repairs the hair
The DC is thick and its mixed with some herbs. Normally I mixed my DC with oil, but because I’m using it for the first time I left that out. I wanna see how it works.
