Growing your relaxed hair by using carrier & essential oils

carrier & essantial oil eemsdiary

In the hair community using carrier & essential oils is being most advised to use when you want to grow your hair. Growing your hair by incorporating oils in your regimen is a good thing, but how do you go about it?

Let me start with saying this, an oil is not a moisturizer .. I repeat;

“an oil is not a moisturizer”

A product needs to contain water/aqua/H20 for it to be called a moisture based product. So please, if you only use oils to ‘moisturize’ your hair then you know that only an oil isn’t enough.

But what is an oil?
Any of various kinds of greasy, inflammable substances obtained from animal, vegetable, and mineral sources. For our hair & skin we off course use vegetable oil.

The reason that I decided to write about oils is because using oils can really benefit in taking care of your hair.

So let’s start with the basic!
There are so many oils to choice from so which oil do you need to use? Choosing an oil for your hair is like choosing an serum for your face. Every oil has its own benefits and based on what your scalp & hair needs, you can pick a specific oil.

Also there are two type of oils that your hear a lot in the hair & beauty community. We have carrier oils and essentials oils and those two oils are different from each other.

“Carrier vs essential oil”

Carrier oils are usually made from plants. They are typically derived from the fatty parts of a plant, such as the seed, kernels or nuts. Carrier oils are the oils you use to dilute an essential oil, but also can be used on its own.

Most talked about carrier oils are; Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil & Castor Oil.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and fragrant oils. These oils are the pure essence of seeds, flowers, leaves, roots, and other parts of plants.

Because of the high concentration with an essential oil, it’s important to dilute it with an carrier oil.

Most talked about essential oils are; Rosemary Oil, Peppermint Oil, Tea Tree Oil & Lavender Oil.

Now that we know the basic:

  1. An oil is not a moisturizer, because it doesn’t contain water
  2. There are two type of oils; an carrier & essential oil

I have a couple favorite carrier & essential oils I like to incorporate in my regimen. That’s why I’m going to share more about what type of oils there are and the benefits.

You are at the right place if you want to learn more about oils and want to know how to use it for your hair.
