Dealing with dryness, breakage & stiff hair?

    dealing with breakage

The month of April was all about getting the condition of my hair in better state, because I have been dealing with breakage.

As I’m keeping up with my weekly wash routine, I noticed that ladies around me where having a difficult time with taking care of their hair. When I asked them what their biggest problem was, they will say ‘my hair is dry or I don’t know how to get my new growth soft’.

For the last two weeks I have been wearing my wig as a protective style. I’m trying to leave my hair alone and protect it from the weather. So far I’m holding on. Before I started with the protective style I did a protein treatment, two weeks ago, to strengthen my hair. I planned to wear my wig for another 3 weeks – I hope I can manage, after a while I miss my hair – .

At this moment I’m 18 weeks post relaxer

    IMG_2527Pre-poo treatment
For a while I wanted to do a pre-poo ‘oil’ treatment with my steamer. I applied vitamin E oil mixed with a little bit of Jojoba oil all over my hair and scalp. Normally I would use Castor or Coconut oil, but I wanted to try something different. I used the Huetiful Hair Steamer for the treatment. After the treatment the front of my hair felt soft, but the back felt a bit stiff – weird -, I need to play with using Vitamin E oil for a pre-poo treatment-.

Pre-poo treatment IIn November I tried to pre-poo my hair weekly. During my hair journey I used this method before but I wasn’t regularly. I have pre-pooed with a light conditioner and only oils before.

Pre-poo (preshampoo treatment) is a treatment what you before shampooing your hair.

There are different ways to pre-poo your hair. You can use

    • an oil or a mixture of oils
    • a ‘light weight’ conditioner
    • Honey
    • Yogurt
    • Masque

    2014.11.23 WASHDAY

It was all about heat this washing routine. I’m planning to use heat (a hooded dryer or a steamer) regularly because of the cold weather. My hair had a good week. Almost every morning I moisturized with ORS HAIRepair Intense Moisture Crème. Why in the morning. Well I was lazy to moisturize my hair in the evening.

    Step 1

I started with a pre-poo oil treatment. I made a new oil mixture and I’m loving it – post about the mix coming soon – . In four sections I applied the oil. I really focused on my ends. I still suffering from split ends, it’s driving me CRAZY!! For some stimulation I applied Jamaican Black Castor Oil x Peppermint oil on my scalp. When applying the oil I massage my scalp. – when I was massaging my scalp I could feel my lovely new growth –  I used a hooded dryer for a hour.

    Step 1
For my wash treatment I started with a pre-poo treatment. I used two different oils. On my left side I applies Sesame seed oil and on the right side my Coconut oil. Why 2 different oils?? I’m experimenting with the Sesame seed oil. On my scalp I applied Jamaican Black Castor oil x peppermint oil.

I was busy with cleaning my room and other stuff, so I left the treatment on my hair for about 2 hours. The peppermint oil was in full effect. I love the tingle ling feeling.

    Step 2
I washed my hair with Nexxus Therappe Luxurious Moisturizing Shampoo. I wished my love for the conditioner was the same as for the shampoo. But this shampoo is not the business for me. But why did you use it? My goal is to finish my products. The reason I don’t like this shampoo is because there is no slip.
