What have I learned in the month June?
With everything going on in the world and in my personal life I noticed I wasn’t giving my mind some time to rest. I try do everything right when it comes to my work & personal goals that I have set for myself. I’m only human and I really had to say it out loud to myself.
I think most of us are familiar with the saying
“Hustle hard or grind till you can’t no more”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for hustle hard, but I’m also taking your rest. Why?
This month June I took some days of from work, just because. Because of quarantine I didn’t have any plans so I decided to focus my time on working on my blog, write content and edit some videos. To be honest I was really tired, but I didn’t want to give myself some rest, because I had a lot of catching up to do.
I wasn’t hitting my goals and in result of that I was talking myself down. So I what I normally do when I feel I’m slacking, I motivate myself with words so that I will have the drive to focus on my blog.
But on that Friday morning anything that came out of my mouth didn’t work. So I was like you know what, let me rest by staying in bed a little longer.
As I was lying in my bed and watching a show, I noticed I was in a battle with myself. Words like “What are you doing? This is the time to work on your blog! You are wasting time!” ran through my mind.
“I need to stop feeling bad”
At that moment I was like NO! I need to stop feeling bad, because I’m tired. My body is tired and my mind is tired, I need to rest.
So what did I do? I stayed in bed the whole day. Yes! The whole day. I’m not going to lie, the words what are you doing? Popped up a few times, but the next day I was happy that I took a day off and to be honest I needed more off days.
Having goals and be on your hustle is great, but please don’t be like me and think that you are a robot that go on and on without resting. It’s okay to take a day or two off for yourself. My self-care routine was nowhere to be found in this month June and I noticed.
You are not failure when you take some rest. Enjoy your free time and build yourself back up whenever it’s necessary.
To keep my mental & physical health in check, I promised myself to rest more.
