Wash day 5th May ‘14

Late night washing … yes is that time again. Last night, after work, I decided to wash my hair. Sunday I wasn’t feeling well and wasn’t fit to wash my hair. I live in the Netherlands, and Monday it’s time for Real Housewives of Atlanta. So before I could watch the last part of the show I started with my routine.

PRE-POO
I used my oil mix coconut x olive oil to apply on my hair. I warmed the oil with warm water. When I did the first part, I then applied my black castor x peppermint oil mix on my scalp. After applying the oil it was time for some ratchetness *big smile*.

WASH
After watching two reality shows it was time to rinse out the oils. It’s been a long time that I did a co-wash, so you know what time it is … co-wash !!!. TREsemmé Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner is my fav product for a co-wash. In two sections I co-washed my hair. I really concentrated on my scalp and my problem areas.

DEEP CONDITION
Before applying the conditioner I used a t-shirt to dry my hair. In 4 sections I applied ORS HaiRepair Nourishing Conditioner. I almost forgot that I had this product. I used two packs because one simple isn’t enough. The oils that I mixed the product with; grape seed and peppermint oil. I deep condition with heat for 45 minutes and let my hair cool off for 15 minutes.

Wash day Sunday 27th April

IMG_0400Ow boy my hair needed a wash. I’m not the type to wash my hair two times a week, but sometimes I think it is necessary.

I started off with a wash. I used Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Shampoo. As always I wash my hair in 4 sections. During the wash I detangled my hair with my fingers. When I was done, my hair was really fluffy, and the funny part is I still don’t know if this shampoo is a KEEPER!!

I couldn’t  find my t-shirt so I dried my hair with a towel. After that I let my hair air dry for a little bit (15 minutes) and then deep conditioning with KeraCare Intensive Restorative Masque. It was my first time using this product and so far so good. I’m not really familiar with masque conditioner, but the texture of the product  feels light, like a normal moisturizing cream.  I deep condition for a hour without heat. My hair was soo bouncy- fluffy- soft when I rinsed out the conditioner. It was just hairlicious !!

In the beginning of my hair journey Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream was my BABY and lately I have been neglected it. In sections I applied the leave-in and gently detangeled my hair with a shower comb. I really concentrated on my problem areas, my ends, edges, crown and nape. I pinned my hair up for it to air dry. In the evening my hair was still damp, but I had to moisturize my hair before I went to bed. I applied ORS Hair Lotion on my hair and didn’t use an oil to seal – laziness -.

Cantu Shea Butter why did I ever leave you??

Wash day 19th April ‘14

untitle_Fotor_Collage_Fotor[1] I started with a pre-poo treament. The  coconut/olive oil mix was applied on my hair and  the black castor /peppermint oil on my scalp. I used hot water to warm up the coconut/olive oil mix.

[2] Since last week I have been using Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger. So far this shampoo is oke, but I’m not sold yet. After the wash I did a quick conditioning treatment with Redken Time Reset conditioner. In section applied the product on my hair. After 5/6 minutes I rinsed it out.

[3] After drying my hair with a t-shirt I applied Nexxus Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner mixed with macadamia, rosemary and peppermint oil. I deep condition with heat for 50 minutes. After that I let my hair cool off for 20 minutes.

[4] Lately I don’t know what to do after a wash. I’m planning to stop with air drying for a while, but as usual I went for the air dry method. I used Creme of Nature Argan Oil Strength & Shine and Olive Oil & Mango Butter Leave-In H2 Conditioner.

I sealed my hair with John Frieda Frizz Ease serum and then styled my hair in a high bun.

Relaxer: April 5th ’14

1. 2014-04-05It was time to relax my hair. I said the last time I wouldn’t stretch my relaxer more than 16 week, but damn it man I stretched for 25 weeks. There is nothing wrong with stretching your relaxer for so long, but I wanted to minimize it to 16-20 week. The last time I relaxed my hair I was 31 weeks post… yup 31 weeks.

I decided to relax my hair because it wasn’t manageable for me. The struggle was real when I tried to style my hair.

The week before I did a protein treatment to prepare my hair for the relaxer.

It’s time for the creamy crack !!!

[1] I always prep my scalp for the relaxer. I part my hair in small section. Then I apply Vaseline on my scalp only. I grease my scalp because a Lye-relaxer is harsh on the scalp. Yup I said it!!  I’m also thinking of switching back to a No-Lye relaxer. I will tell you why in a different blog post. But yeah.. after greasing my scalp I apply the relaxer on my new growth only. When the relaxer is applied I smooth out the new growth with my fingers. I only use my fingers to smooth out the new growth.

Wash day 29 March 2014

It’s been tooo long !!! My laziness is getting worse and it shows. My hair is screaming for some TLC. Last week I haven’t been moisturizing each night and sleeping with a scarf. I have noticed that my hair is really weak, so I decided it was time for a protein treatment and I’m also planning to relax my hair… soon. Thinking about it ‘when was my last protein treatment?’ I had to look it up ‘ohw snap .. the last time was in December ’13’.  My goal is once a month – shame on me –

1.
After pre-poo

PRE-POO

I started off with an oil treatment as my pre-poo. I used Jamaican Black Castor mixed with peppermint oil on the scalp. In section I massaged the oil on the scalp. I made sure that I gave my problems are some extra love. – I will write an article about my problems areas and how I take care of it- . when I was done with my scalp, it was time to apply my pre-poo oil mix (Coconut Oil x Olive Oil) on the hair. I covered my hair with a plastic bag and on top of that I placed a scarf for some heat.

I pre-poo for about 2 hours, I didn’t mean to. I was Cinderella for the day, so I had to cook diner for the family.
