For the last two weeks I have been wearing my wig as a protective style. I’m trying to leave my hair alone and protect it from the weather. So far I’m holding on. Before I started with the protective style I did a protein treatment, two weeks ago, to strengthen my hair. I planned to wear my wig for another 3 weeks – I hope I can manage, after a while I miss my hair – .
At this moment I’m 18 weeks post relaxer
For a while I wanted to do a pre-poo ‘oil’ treatment with my steamer. I applied vitamin E oil mixed with a little bit of Jojoba oil all over my hair and scalp. Normally I would use Castor or Coconut oil, but I wanted to try something different. I used the Huetiful Hair Steamer for the treatment. After the treatment the front of my hair felt soft, but the back felt a bit stiff – weird -, I need to play with using Vitamin E oil for a pre-poo treatment-.
Wash routine for relaxed hair
It was highly time for a protein treatment. I’m doing a bad job with my monthly regimen. I noticed that my hair was breaking, and it’s really because my hair is screaming for protein.
Wash routine for ‘relaxed‘ hair My hair was dry as #@$!. So I started off with a pre-poo treatment by using Olive Oil. In sections of three I applied the oil to my hair and scalp. I did the pre-poo treatment for like an hour without heat.

Clarifying – protein treatment
I’m still protective styling with a wig. During the week I made sure that I applied an oil – Almond Oil – to my edges and nape. Because of my birthday my sister took me on a spa date. I planned not to get my hair wet, but who was I kidding. My wig got wet and because of the weight, it pulled down my wig. Because of the pulling my edges was extra sensitive – ugh -.
Sunday afternoon I took off my wig and braids. I let my scalp breath for the whole day. Monday was washday – sometimes you got to switch it up –
The last time I clarified my hair was a month and view weeks ago. That is not keeping up with my monthly regimen – the plan is every 4 weeks -. In small sections I shampooed my hair with Mizani Puriphying Shampoo. After the second was I wrapped my hair with a cotton t-shirt.
I decided to protect my hair for several reasons. One trying to retain length and second because of the weather. I live in the Netherlands and its fall season. The weather is f#!%ed up. So I have been protective styling my hair since September 12. My style for the moment is protecting with a wig. I will write a post about how I prep and maintain my hair while wigging – lol it that a word? Wigging? –
I skipped the pre poo treatment and went straight to washing my hair. Because I didn’t apply any product to my hair during the week, I only needed to shampoo once. For the wash I used Mizani Moisturfusion Milk Bath Shampoo.
Ugh i’m still slacking with my weekly hair routine. I think it’s time for a protective style, my dear friend the u-part wig lool.
–> I started with a pre-poo. For this pre-poo I used an oil mix (castor + olive oil). I will write a post about this mix. I pre-pooed for 30 minutes with heat. After the pre-poo my hair was so shiny.. my dead ends where a live again *happyface*
–> For my wash I used Creme of Nature Argan Oil Moisture & Shine Shampoo. I almost forgot about this shampoo. It’s is nice shampoo and it’s sulfate free.
