How often you shampoo your relaxed hair depends on how much product you use in between washes and how oily your hair/scalp gets. The most given advice is to wash your hair at least once a week, but don’t go longer than 2 weeks.
A shampoo is needed to get your scalp and hair clean. The main purpose of a shampoo is to remove dirt, oil and smell.
To keep your scalp clean, refreshed and promote hair growth it’s important to be consistent with your washdays. I prefer to wash my hair once a week.
I moisturize my hair almost every day and use gel to style my hair. To nurture my scalp, I use an scalp oil 3 times a week.
You can imagen how my hair looks and feel after a week. My hair looks dull because of the product build-up. Also adding products to a dirty hair will not benefit my hair, because of the amount of product that is already on the hair.
How to figure out
[1] Analysis for yourself how your hair looks after a week. Is your hair still looking fresh or is it lifeless screaming for a wash? Also the amount of product that you use will let you know how often you need to wash your hair.
[2] Based on your lifestyle, pick a day you will dedicate to wash your hair. Having a specific day will help with being consistent. My washday is on Saturday, even my friends know this. I like to start washday in de mornings.
If you are interested to shampooing your hair twice a week, make sure that your spread your wash days. For example, my standard day is Saturday right. But when I decided to shampoo my hair during the week, I like to do that on Wednesday.
Shampooing your scalp and hair is necessary! Your hair will not be fabulous when it’s dirty, clogged and oversaturated.
